There are some really nice hiking opportunities around Gjógv. A beautiful hike starts at café Gjáarkaffi, a summer café in the middle of town. From there on you hike up the cliff on a well-signed path. It will take you are around on hour one way to reach the top of the cliff. The elevation is about 300 meters. The views are spectacular. In high winds this hike may be impossible to do (as we found out on a stormy day in winter). In fine weather the hike is pretty easy and straighforward (as we found out on a sunny day in summer).
Difficulty: easy to moderate, depending on the weather
Length and duration: 3 km, elevation gain: 300 meters, around 1-1,5 hours.
Cost: none
Parking: Starting point is at Gjáarkaffi. There’s a parking on the edge of town, it was free when we were there.
