The estimated hiking times below are adjusted for hiking with children.

Day 1: Take the train from Wildersil to Schynige Platte (1967 m). Hike from Schynige Platte to Berghaus Männdlenen (2344m) – 8,7 km, around 4,5 hours, 1:45,  600 m,  250 m – mostly level T2. Each viewpoint offers a unique perspective of the surrounding peaks, valleys, and lakes.

The section from Daube to Oberberghorn has some parts that are T3 (steeper sections with wooden stairs and short exposed areas). The Oberberghorn ascent is T3 (steep, narrow ridge with some hands needed for balance). This ascend, however, can be skipped.

Day 2: Hike from Berghaus Männdlenen to Berghotel Faulhorn (2681m), continuing to the Bachalpsee and then to Berggasthaus First (2167m), where you’ll spend the night – 10 km, around 4,5 hours,  400 m  600 m, . The trail is mostly T2, but includes short T3 sections, particularly near Faulhorn, due to steep and rocky terrain. Berghotel Faulhorn offers incredible 360° views. On a clear day you can see as far as the Mont Blanc, along with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Day 3: Hike from Berggasthaus First to the town of Grindelwald – 9,4 km, around 3 hours,  1150 m – level T2. This is a very scenic descent, with panoramic views of the Wetterhorn, Eiger, and surrounding valleys. The trail is well-marked, relatively easy, and a great warm-up before lunch in Grindelwald.

In the afternoon, take the gondola from Grindelwald to Pfingstegg and hike to the Bäregghütte (1,775m) – 2,7 km, 2 hours,  450 m,  70 m – level T2/T3. This is a stunning alpine trail. It is mostly level T2, with some T3 sections. It offers spectacular views over the Lower Grindelwald Glacier and the rugged landscape of the Schreckhorn massif. The trail ascends gradually through alpine meadows with steep cliffs on one side. Some sections are rocky and narrow, but the path is well-secured and easy to follow. As you climb, the views get more dramatic, revealing glacial rivers, rocky ridges, and the retreating Lower Grindelwald Glacier. The last part of the trail is steeper before reaching the Bäregghütte.

Optional: Try the Pfingstegg Summer Toboggan Run before starting your hike.

Day 4: This hike takes you from the Bäregghütte (1775m) back to Grindelwald (1034m), then to the base station of the Eiger Express gondola – 7 km, 3 hours,  100 m,  900 m – level T2.
