I would say the month of October is the best time to visit the Dolomites in Italy. The bulk of the tourists is gone and parking places are pretty empty. But more important, the autumn colors are simply spectacular! We just love the vibrant fall colors.
We based ourselves in Villabassa (Niederdorf). It’s very close to Lago di Braies and Lago di Dobbiaco, and within half an our of the Tre Cime area and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
