Japan – summer 2024

Honshu, Kyushu, Shikoku and Hokkaido

Are you guys going to Japan yet again? But haven’t you just been? Yep, there’s no getting away from it. Japan is simply our favourite.
What’s in the cards this time:
In summer, we are going for a little over 4 weeks. We’ll start in Osaka and pick up our rental car. From there, we will drive for over two weeks through Honshu, Kyushu and Shikoku, passing temples, mountains and volcanoes. We will visit Onomichi and Tsuwano. We will hike at Mount Karakuni and Mount Aso and go to Takachiho gorge. We return to Shikoku by ferry and visit Shimanto river and Iya valley.

In Osaka, we return the rental car and take a domestic flight to Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost island. In Chitose, we pick up another rental car and drive a grand tour of Hokkaido, passing Biei, Furano, Sounkyo onsen, lake Kusshiro and lake Akan, Niseko, Hakodate, Lake Toya, Noboribetsu and Hakodate. We will be in Hakodate for the Hakodate Summer Port festival.
