Lungauer Seentour – 5 days

This hut hike takes you from hut to hut in 5 days through the Riedingtal valley in Lungau in Austria – with amazing views of the Salzburg mountain. It offers a balanced mix of hiking and relaxation, with manageable distances and elevations suitable for families. Each hut provides unique amenities and regional culinary delights, ensuring a comfortable and enriching experience throughout your hike. Daily hiking times are adjusted for hiking with children.

Day 1: Begin your hike by parking your car in Unterweißburg. From there, take a bus into the Murtal to reach Parkplatz Arsenhaus (1,341 m). Hike to the Sticklerhütte (1,750 m) – 7,4 km, 2:30, ↑ 420 m. Stay the night in the Sticklerhütte, near the source of the Mur River.

Day 2: Depart from the Sticklerhütte and head towards the Königalm in Zederhaus (1667 m) – 6,1 km, 3:00, ↑ 530 m, ↓ 610 m. Königalm is renowned for its traditional alpine charm and offers hearty regional dishes.

Day 3: From the Königalm, proceed to the Franz-Fischer-Hütte (2,020 m) – 6,8 km, 3:15, ↑ 590 m, ↓ 240 m. The Franz-Fischer-Hütte is notable for its commitment to sustainability and offers a unique vegetarian and vegan menu.

Day 4: Leave the Franz-Fischer-Hütte and make your way to the Jakoberalm (1,839 m) – 4 km, 1:45, ↑ 110 m, ↓ 290 m. This is a relatively short yet scenic trek. You can combine day 3 and 4 to make this a shorter trip.

Day 5: Conclude your hut hike by hiking from the Jakoberalm (1839 m) to Mautstelle im Riedingtal/Wald (1,340 m) – 8,7 km, 3:00, ↑ 180 m, ↓ 680 m. Take the bus back from Wals through the Riedingtal to retrieve your car in Unterweißburg.
